Ones again the future of Wayne Rooney is in doubt with clubs such as Chelsea FC and PSG chasing the ManUnited striker.
It seems that in recent years the question about Wayne Rooney’s future has been asked every summer. Numerous times we have been told that he has been “considering a move” but nothing has ever materialised, resulting in him staying at Manchester United. This time however it appears that we will see Rooney move on despite new manager David Moyes suggesting that the player is not for sale.
Since joining Manchester United in 2004, Wayne Rooney has consistently been one of the key players within the starting 11. The striker has scored some important goals for the club and has played a major part in the success of the club in recent years. In his time at Old Trafford, Rooney has won the Premier League 5 times, the League cup twice and the Champions League once.
I believe Rooney now needs to leave Manchester United for the good of both him and the club. The club will be able to move on from the constant drama surrounding his future and can progress under new manager David Moyes, with Robin Van Persie as their talisman. In selling Wayne Rooney, Manchester United would free up extra cash to continue their pursuit of Barcelona midfielder, Cesc Fabregas. Not only this, but with Rooney now being 27, his value will start to decrease especially if he is playing second fiddle to Robin Van Persie. In cashing in on him n0w, United will be able to get enough money to find a suitable replacement.
For the player himself their are a number of reasons I believe the that it is time for him to leave. One of the main reasons being that, in once again stating that he wishes to leave Manchester United, many of the clubs fans will question his loyalty and commitment to the club going forwards. This not only piles pressure on Rooney to resolve the situation with fans but also makes David Moyes job a lot harder than it could have been. Another reason for now being the time for Rooney to move is that, for the individual himself, he needs to play regularly and have a good season with the 2014 World Cup at the end of the season. One of the clubs that appear to be chasing Rooney is Chelsea FC, the Europa League winners have made 2 bids for the England international. A move to Chelsea could offer Rooney a fresh start and and new opportunities under Joes Mourinho.
