The transfer window is closed and the biggest transfer was without a doubt David Beckham’s move to PSG. However, Balotelli’s £19m move to AC Milan was the most expensive one and Christopher Samba’s arrival at QPR gives the Hoops supporters new hope!
David Beckham signed a five-month contract worth £150,000 a week and is donating his salary to a local children’s charity. Beckham won the Premier League title six times, the FA Cup twice and the UEFA Champions League in 1999 before departing to Real Madrid CF where he helped to win the La Liga championship in his final campaign at the Santiago Bernabéu, 2006/07. At the MLS, he won two successive MLS Cups. Beckham’s arrival will be welcomed by PSG forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who said in November: “It is a very exciting project here in Paris and if he still wants more trophies then this is the right club for him to join. PSG is set to face Valencia in the Champions League.
AC Milan sealed a Balotelli deal for £19m. The 22-year-old signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with the Italian club and completed a medical on Wednesday. Balotelli said: “I will always have a very special place in my heart for City; it’s a great club with a great future.” Mario Balotelli signed with City in 2010 for £24m from Inter Milan and scored 30 goals in 80 appearances. AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani said: “With his arrival, we have reinforced our team a lot. He’s a dream come true, wanted by [AC Milan president Silvio] Berlusconi and the club.” AC Milan will face Barcelona in the Champions League.
The third biggest signing of this transfer window was Christopher Samba who moved from Anzhi Makhachkala to QPR for £12.5m. The ex-Blackburn defender signed a four-and-a-half-year deal and will receive £100,000-a-week. Harry Redknapp said: “Chris is just what we need. He’s a monster. The Hoops boss added: “Great in the air, quick, a leader, strong, fantastic in both boxes, hard as nails. He’s a proper centre-half.” QPR is bottom of the Premier League and 4 points behind Aston Villa, Wigan and Reading.
