Scotland will face Japan on November 9th, South Africa on November 17th and Australia on November 23rd at Murrayfield in this year’s international test. The ticket demand for international rugby matches is huge and Scotland supporters will now be able to buy and sell Scotland Rugby tickets on the viagogo platform.
Scottish Rugby’s Chief Executive, Mark Dodson, said: “This ground-breaking deal is good news for Scottish Rugby financially and good news for our supporters both at home and overseas.”
Now, Scotland Rugby fans can re-sell their tickets if they are unable to attend a game. Additionally, viagogo offers a new international ticketing channel for Scotland Rugby which helps to manage ticketing and attendance more effectively on a global basis. Viagogo operates in over 26 markets.
It remains to be see what the exact deal details are and whether viagogo is able to sell tickets only on face value or within a certain price range. It also remains to be seen what the reaction of the Scotland Rugby fans will be as viagogo received a lot of negative press and fan pressure in other European markets,
Oliver Wheeler, Global Head of Communications for viagogo, said: “We’re very proud to be working with Scottish Rugby. This partnership marks a number of milestones for our business, as it’s our first with a sport’s governing body, our first in Scotland and our first with branding rights. It is also the first of what we hope will be many partnerships with sport governing bodies.
