Both Manchester clubs will face tough Premier League matches on Saturday, October 5th and need to keep track with Arsenal and Liverpool. Manchester City will host Everton and Manchester United will face Sunderland.
Manchester City vs Everton on Saturday, October 5th at 12:45pm
Manchester City will look to get over their midweek mauling by European Champions Bayern Munich when they welcome Everton to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday. Manchester City will need a result as in addition to their loss to the Bavarians on Wednesday, they also lost their last Premier League fixture to Aston Villa, and so Manuel Pellegrini will be feeling a little bit of pressure going into this weekend. The Manchester City manager will not be the only person under pressure going into Saturday’s game, as the players will be expected to bounce back from two consecutive defeats.
Everton on the other hand are still the only unbeaten side left in the Premier League and last Mondays 3-2 victory over Newcastle moved them up to fourth in the table, to give Roberto Martinez a great start as manager. The Merseyside team also have a good record against Manchester City recently as last season they claimed a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium, and then beat the Manchester Club at home 2-0 in the return fixture, so they will be full of confidence going into Saturday’s game. Everton’s signings of James McCarthy and on loan Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku have been inspired purchases with the Belgium forward showing why he is so highly regarded with three goals to his name already, he is sure to be a threat to Manchester City.
Manchester City will look to Spanish midfielder David Silva to provide the ammunition to strikers Alvaro Negredo, Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic to fire them to a victory that will get their season back on track. This is sure to be a fantastic match due to the way both sides have started the season, so tickets are sure to be in high demand to see who comes out on top.
Sunderland vs Manchester United on Saturday, October 5th at 17:30pm
Rock bottom of the table Sunderland welcome Champions Manchester United to the Stadium of Light this Saturday evening, with caretaker manager and Club legend Kevin Ball hoping to cause an upset which could ignite their season. There were positive signs for Ball in last week’s defeat to Liverpool as they provided him with a passionate display, but were unfortunate to come up against a Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge inspired Liverpool side. It looks on paper to be a more difficult task against Champions Manchester United, but the Black Cats will have seen West Bromwich Albion’s victory at Old Trafford last weekend and believe they can replicate that and gain three valuable points.
Manchester United therefore will be desperate not to be on the end of another huge shock and therefore ease the pressure on new manager David Moyes after an indifferent start to their title defence. The midweek Champions League draw against Shakhtar Donetsk was a good point and the return of magnificent striker Robin Van Persie is another boost for the Champions. One blow could be the possible absence of England striker Wayne Rooney, as he is a doubt after injuring himself in the lead up to the midweek game against Shakhtar Donetsk, Rooney’s impressive form so far this season is a huge positive so the Champions will be hoping he is available for selection. The hosts meanwhile are still without proven goal scorer Steven Fletcher due to injury, so Sunderland will be looking to their American forward Jozy Altidore to lead the line against the Red Devils. Alongside Altidore in attack will be Italian Emanuele Giaccherini, who has been one positive for Sunderland as he has two goals in as many games, so will look to make it three on the trot on Saturday.
Even though the odds will be against the home side, this seasons Premier League has shown already that anything can happen, so tickets will be in demand for this fantastic game.
