This years BNP Paribas Masters is the ninth and final ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event and will take place from October 28th to November 3rd 2013 at the Palais Omnisports in Bercy, Paris.
Current
David Ferrer won the 2012 event, beating Poland’s Jerzy Janowicz (6-4,6-3). On his way to winning the competition, Ferrer, also beat big names opponents, Stanislas Wawrinka and 2008 winner Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. The reigning champion is currently ranked world number 4 so will once again be a contender for this year’s title.
There are a number of players to watch out for during this year’s event, the first being 2012 Olympic gold medallist Andy Murray. The Scotsman has made an impressive start to the 2013 tennis season, finishing runner up in the Australian open and winning the Miami masters after a straight sets victory over reigning BNP Paribas Masters winner, David Ferrer. His strong start to the year has seen him move to second in the world rankings for the first time since September 2009. Another man to watch out for is Novak Djokovic. The world number one has been dominant thus far in 2013, winning the Australian Open, with a victory in the final over Andy Murray, as well as winning the Dubai tennis championships.
Another contender for this year’s title is Roger Federer. The ever present world number three has made a slow start to the 2013 season. Federer made it to the semi-final stage of the Australian open, losing to Andy Murray. He also reached the semi-finals in the Dubai tennis championships but again failed to make it any further. Despite not yet winning an event this year, Federer will still be a threat when it comes to this year’s BNP Paribas Masters.
