Internationals Series 2013 – Jacksonville Jaguars v San Francisco 49ers at the Wembley Stadium in London on October 27th 2013.
American Football at Wembley is seen as a show-piece event in the UK, with fans flocking to North London in order to catch a glimpse of sport that they are rarely able to see on this side of the Atlantic. Crowds have tended to top the 80,000 mark every year since the New York Giants and the Miami Dolphins played the first NFL game at the new Wembley back in 2007.
Next year’s game should be no different as the NFL International Series will return to London for a seventh consecutive year with the Jacksonville Jaguars taking on the San Francisco 49ers. As part of the NFL’s expansion plans, the Jaguars will play one “home” game at Wembley each year from 2013-16n while the 49ers will be making their second appearance at Wembley, having hosted the Denver Broncos in 2010 when over 83,000 fans saw them win the game.
This year’s game at Wembley, played on the 27th October 2012, saw The New England Patriots smash St Louis Rams by 45-7 in front of a sell-out crowd of 84,005. Both the Jaguars and 49ers will be hoping to replicate that sort of crowd and entertainment for next year’s international game which will be a great start to a new era in both teams international development of the game.
You can see why the owners of The Jaguars are so excited to be playing their first game at Wembley against a team such as the 49ers with such a rich history and it will do nothing but attract a large fan base.
No shows booked at the moment.
