The National Basketball Association season starts later this year, and one of the games will be played here in the United Kingdom, with the Manchester Arena hosting the Oklahoma City Thunder against Philadelphia 76ers on the eighth of October.

This will be a great occasion as it is the first time an NBA game has been staged in Manchester and it will involve some of the sport’s most talented players, with Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder, along with veteran Jason Richardson in the Philadelphia 76ers team.
Oklahoma City Thunder
Oklahoma City Thunder had a good season last year as they won the Western Conference and reached the Play-off Final, so will be looking to be as successful in the forthcoming campaign. The Thunder have a tradition of developing young players, and this is true for the new season as their squad is boosted by the additions of Steven Adams, Andre Roberson and Grant Jerrett, to improve their chances of another successful year.
Philadelphia 76ers
Meanwhile the Philadelphia 76ers are one of the most renowned teams in the National Basketball Association but they had a mediocre season last term, as they finished around the mid table mark in the Eastern Conference, so will be aiming to improve during 2013 / 14. Their cause has been helped by the additions of talented point guard Michael Carter-Williams, along with Khalif Wyatt and Micheal Eric to their squad, so the prospects for the new season look good for the Club.

The Manchester Arena was opened back in 1995 and is the largest indoor venue in the world. It is a fantastic arena with its versatility meaning it has hosted concerts including U2, Madonna and The Rolling Stones, along with boxing matches featuring Mike Tyson and David Haye over the years.
