Important weekend for the top teams in the Bundesliga – Bayern faced Hamburg and wanted to extend the lead to Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund faced Stuttgat and had to win to keep track of Bayern and Schalke. Schalke wanted to win in Hoffenheim to challenge Bayern for the top spot.
Hamburger SV 0 – 3 Bayern Munich
This Saturday, the team of Bayern manager Jupp Heynckes and HSV manager Thorsten Fink faced each other in the big North-South derby. Both teams have never been relegated from the Bundesliga. The match began right on the dot at 18:30, but that wasn’t just a derby, it was also the duel between Manuel Neuer and Rene Adler who fight for the number one position in the German national team. So, tension was guaranteed. Bayern was motivated to win again after nearly six years and started strong. The first chance for Bayern had Ribery who came close to score. In the 40th minute, however, was it Schweinsteiger who sccored the lead for Bayern after a great Kroos assist. Bayern didn’t change anything during the half-time. HSV made one change and replaced Rincon with Rudnevs. However, the second half began just like the first one ended. Müller extended the lead in the 48th minute, when he took a beautiful Ribery cross volley scored right from the baseline. 5 minutes later was it Toni Kroos who scored the final score for Bayern. It was overall a well deserved victory of the German record champions, who again underlined his masterful ambitions.
Dortmund 0 – 0 Stuttgart
Dortmund had to settle for a draw against Stuttgart. After equal chances on both sides was it Kehls injury that interrupted the rhythm of the game. Dortmund was much better after the injury, but failed to pressure Stuttgart. After the restart, Dortmund was more active, but had couldn’t break the compact VFB defense.
Hoffenheim 3 – 2 Schalke
Schalke played a superior game in Hoffenheim, had the majority of possession and created clearly more chances, but faced Hoffenheim who crucially executed their counter attacks effectively. Volland scored the 1:0 for Hoffenheim in the 13th minute. Schalke equalized just before half time through Neustädter. However, it only took until the 67th minute for Hoffenheim to score the 2:1 after a penalty from Roberto Firmino. However, Schalke didnt lose faith and kept coming and scored the 2:2 in the 82nd minute through Uchida. However, Hoffenheim counter attacked Schalke in the 90th + 1 minute and scored the 3:2 through Schipplock.
