Former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola signed with Bayern Munich and will take over from Jupp Heynckes at the end of the season. The 41-year-old signed a 3 year contract until 2016.
Guardiola is one of the most successful coaches in the world and won 14 titles with Barcelona including 2 Champions League titles. Guardiola was also linked with Chelsea and Manchester City, but signed a three-year contract with FC Bayern until 2016 and will take over from Jupp Heynckes at the end of the season. Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: “Pep Guardiola is one of the most successful coaches in the world and we are sure that he can make not just Bayern, but all of German football shine.”
There have been a lot of rumours about a move to England especially since Guardiola recently said: “As a player I couldn’t realise my dream to play there. But I hope in the future, I have a challenge to be a coach or a manager there.”
Abramovich was after the former Barcelona coach after the reign of Rafa Benitez and offered him an astonishing four-year deal worth £40million after tax. He would have become the highest-paid boss in the world.
Guardiola’s record as a manager is one to be admired and he is looking to continue his successes in the Bundesliga.
