Borussia Dortmund reached the Champions League final on May 25th at Wembley despite two late Real Madrid goals in the Champions League semi-final.
Borussia Dortmund reached the Champions League final at Wembley despite their first loss in this years Champions League against Real Madrid. Mourinho team played much stronger than in the first leg, but failed to scored in the first 15 minutes after great chances by Higuain (4th), Ronaldo (13th) and Ozil (15th). The game remained equal until Benzema (83rd) and Ramos (88th) scored the 2:0 lead for Real. However, 2:0 wasn’t enough for Real to advance.
For Dortmund, it’s a dream come true. Klopp’s team entered the Champions League season as an underdog winning against Real Madrid, Manchester City and Ajax Amsterdam in the group stage. Klopp said after the game: “I´m so very proud of my team, they are so young. First league title, first cup final, and now first Champions League final. I´m so happy at this moment and I was about to enjoy but it if not for all the press briefings. It´s just sensational to have knocked out Real Madrid. We are definitively going to celebrate.”
25.000 Dortmund fans are estimated to travel to London for the final and not all of they will be able to get their hands on some final tickets. One thing is for certain, Dortmund won’t sell any Champions League tickets at the box office after BVB-Boss Hans-Joachim Watzke confessed that they underestimated the demand for the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid.
Gotze and Lewandowski have the opportunity to finish one of the most successful seasons at Borussia Dortmund despite playing for Bayern Munich next year!
